Chattanooga Market Opening Weekend Announced
April 23 – April 24, 2022

For Immediate Release – Chattanooga, Tennessee

The 2022 Chattanooga Market season is scheduled to open on Saturday, April 23rd and Sunday, April 24th. Opening weekend always brings a flurry of activity at Chattanooga Market…new vendors, familiar faces and a general feeling that “spring has sprung”. Organizers are excited to bring back a full schedule of themed events too—one of the many festive aspects of the popular Sunday Market.

Executive Director of Chattanooga Market, Chris Thomas, looks forward to the opening weekend, “The past several months we’ve been planning, vetting and accepting new vendors, forging new relationships with local non-profits and getting prepared for the entire community to visit us this 2022 season.”

Sunday Funday
Chattanooga Market holds true to its mission of providing a platform for growers and makers to offer their goods, while providing a Sunday gathering spot where patrons can enjoy a family-friendly, cultural experience. Producers who come to sell at the Market include local and regional farms, food artisans, wood-workers, photographers, artists and craftsmen of all disciplines. Topping out at nearly 200 vendors each week, there is always something new to see and enjoy. Opening weekend patrons are typically eager to purchase flower bouquets, farm fresh strawberries and staples such as cheeses, breads and meats.

With about a dozen food trucks to choose from each week, it is always lunch time at the Market. The local eats include cafe-style sandwiches, empanadas, authentic Mexican, famous Lupi’s Pizza, Cajun food, low country seafood and many other types of cuisine.

Live music is featured each Market day on the Lodge Cast Iron Sizzle Stage, both at noon and 2:30pm hosting singers/songwriters and bands of many different genre. Local favorite, Sweet Georgia Sound, will be performing live on opening weekend. The 20+ piece band is well known for its swing and big band music.

The schedule of events for 2022 season includes some local favorites such as the Ice Cream Social (June 12th) benefitting Girls, Inc. of Chattanooga and a few new ones including the BLOOMS! Flower Festival on May 22nd. Notable, Chattanooga Oktoberfest® is scheduled for the weekend of October 8 and 9th.

Chattanooga Market thrives from the financial support of select organizations. Market organizers would like to recognize these stellar 2022 Corporate Sponsors: Acura of ChattanoogaLodge Cast IronFirst HorizonTennessee Aquarium.

Additional Locations
In partnership with Erlanger Health Systems, the Erlanger Market has returned to the year-round Friday schedule. Held at the downtown campus Medical Mall, the hours are Fridays, 10:30-1:30pm near the Starbucks. About 20 vendors set up each week with a sampling of food, flowers and art.

Beginning Saturday, March 12th-Sunday, March 13th, spring break weekends are spent at Chattanooga River Market on the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza. After Easter, the Market continues there on Saturdays through October 1st. This outdoor Market hosts dozens of artists and crafters, musicians rotating each week and a featured food truck.

For Immediate Release – Tomatoes are the talk of the town this week…Chattanooga Market is getting ready for the annual Top Tomato Festival held this Sunday, July 18th from 11am-4pm. It’s a Bloody Mary sampling event highlighting the best batches in Chattanooga. Four local restaurants + Chattanooga Market’s home bar, Mix It Up, will be creating the season’s best Bloody’s. Thanks to sponsor Tito’s Vodka, all proceeds will benefit the Finley Stadium Foundation.

Patrons can buy a $15 pass to get 5 ounce samples from five “Top Tomato” Bloody Mary creators, each hoping to win the 2021 title for their restaurant. The prestigious trophy for this event is a one-of-a-kind, handcrafted metal design created by artist Allen Hampton.

“Virgin” drinks are available upon request. Who will win? There will be a People’s Choice and a Judge’s Choice to determine the best.

Here’s whose mixing up the best Bloody Mary beverages:

Southside Social

Scottie’s on the River
Edleys BBQ
Nic & Normans
Mix It Up – Chattanooga Market’s home bar

Of course, there will be plenty of organic, heirloom, cherokee, and many more varieties of tomatoes. It’s also a good time to begin canning and jarring for the winter months to have delicious tomatoes all year round.

Live on the Lodge Cast Iron Sizzle Stage: “No Big Deal” beginning at 12 noon.

Both Collegedale Market and Chattanooga River Market continue throughout the summer. Each features a unique vibe and alternate location. Collegedale Market is a morning farmers and artists market open Sundays 10am-2pm. Held at The Commons in Collegedale, it’s a smaller version of the well known downtown Market. Chattanooga River Market is primarily an artists market, with some take and go artisan foods as well. That Market is on the Tennessee Aquarium Plaza from 10am-5pm each Saturday.

June, 2021

We’ve arrived…here it is, that sweet spot of the season. Each week we’re surprised by what the farms bring to us at Chattanooga Market. The past week or so, we’ve been seeing okra, corn, tomatoes, peaches, squash, lettuces and blueberries. The Market—the vendors— we are thriving again post-COVID, thanks to the community support.

What does June look like at Chattanooga Market? More fresh produce, for sure. Father’s Day is June 20th and we do a pretty darn good job of celebrating dad at the Market. It’s a Blues and Brews day ( by the way, have you tried our Sunday Funday craft beer yet?) featuring none other than Rick Rushing, live on the Lodge Cast Iron Sizzle Stage.

Put a note in your tickler file, we’ll be celebrating the 4th of July BIG—stayed tuned for details!

We’ll see you Sunday!
Chris and Melissa

VENDOR SPOTLIGHT!
Jeff Fulkerson started making jewelry at the age of sixteen, when turquoise was just becoming a hot item. He had been a model-building prodigy from the age of five, and when he saw his cousin wearing a Navajo bracelet, he went to the workshop and taught himself to craft silver. The first ring he ever made was quickly sold, and thus began a lifelong passion for making people (and outfits) look fantastic.
